ARTIST DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The Artist Development Program is a full-time music performance course dedicated to developing new and emerging original artists/musicians.  The program nurtures students in their quest to become practicing artists in the music industry.

CUA40920 Certificate IV in Music (Sound Production) will be delivered across both years 1 and 2. Alongside this, in the first year, CUA50820 Diploma of Music (Performance) will be delivered. In year 2*, it will be delivered alongside CUA60520 Advanced Diploma of Music.  

Duration: 2 years (2nd year optional)
Delivery: Full time – 3 days per week in Geelong

Are passionate about developing their own unique sounds and stories

Value creativity and the exploration of new and progressive ideas

Are wishing to gain inspiration and confidence through networking and collaborating with other creative emerging artists

students not afraid of hard work to maximize the course’s industry and production opportunities

Musicians who are motivated to develop their craft into a viable and sustainable career

CUA60520 Advanced Diploma of Music

YEAR 1

AIM: Allow students to explore and extend their creative musical boundaries whilst gaining confidence in developing as unique and original artists.

Students develop through:

Live gigging experiences

Solo and co-written song writing projects

Exploring contemporary arranging techniques

Instrumental or vocal tuition opportunities

Learning Pro Tools and Ableton Live as key production tools

Producing an electronic press kit:

Networking with other highly creative and passionate students, trainers and industry figures

Operating in an industry-level training environment

Integrating and applying DIY music business strategies throughout real industry project experiences




At the end of year 1, a certificate for CUA50820 Diploma of Music (Performance) will be issued, if all units are deemed competent. 

CUA40920 Certificate IV in Music is delivered across both years 1 and 2. The units delivered in year 2 are delivered on the same day to ensure students are able to complete the Certificate IV components if they don’t wish to go on to the Advanced Diploma.

Year 2

AIM: Provide students with the opportunity to apply the skills developed in year 1 to real-time industry projects.

Students will enter the industry by managing the following experiences:

Promoting their own act through College gigs and networking opportunities

Producing, recording and launching their own EP

Studio sessions on regular basis to develop new repertoire and arrangements

Creating a professional film clip

Mentoring the management of your creative projects and career development

Advanced songwriting and composition studies to aid evolution of repertoire development

Building networks and opportunities as a practicing artist in the music industry

Continuation of music business application focusing on marketing and branding

 

 

* Year 2 of the Artist Development Program is optional. The initial commitment is 12 months with Year 2 requiring a re-interview to assess student’s goals against course outcomes. 

CUA40920 Certificate IV in Music will be continued on from year 1 and delivered along side CUA60520 Advanced Diploma of Music.
