Digital Content Creation

Course Overview

The ‘Digital Content Creation’ program is an 12 month course that delivers a CUA51020 Diploma of Screen and Media. It’s a unique course that combines a variety of disciplines, specifically designed to prepare students with a versatile skill-set that is adapted to the current digital content industry.

In the first year of the program we take emerging content creators and build a foundation to their existing creative technique. They will trial a variety of digital media, have access to facility and mentoring and develop alongside other likeminded creatives. In the second year, we continue that journey and in addition look to facilitate real industry outcomes along with ongoing coursework.

The course has been designed to turn individuals into the best digital content creator they can be, whilst also providing opportunities for a variety of career paths within the digital media industry.

Describe yourself and your endeavor as a creative person?

As a creative person, I have fallen in love with fashion/portraits as you can always do something different. I love working as a camera operator as its hands on and it feels like you're creating the shot.

Why did you decide to study with Oxygen College?

High school wasn't really for me and at a young age I always loved being behind the camera, so I decided to leave high school and study at oxygen college in the hopes of becoming a creative.

Explain why Oxygen College was of benefit to you on your journey?

Oxygen College gave me a platform and the skills to be a creative person get to where I wanted to be.

Did being part of the Oxygen College community have benefits?

The Trainers kept pushing me to be better and always gave me a chance with jobs that came through the College.

What are you doing post study?

I'm currently working as a digital content creator at Stage II as a studio assistant in the fashion industry.

What are you doing post study?

Post study I am beginning my career as a freelance photographer. I am also working at the Geelong Arts Centre and as a Digital Youth Trainee at the Geelong Gallery, where I am learning about and running some of their social media.

Describe yourself and your endeavor as a creative person?

I enjoy conveying my ideas through visuals such as photography and video, whether it’s for my own creative projects or for work. Working with others to create their ideas or end goals is very satisfying

Why did you decide to study with Oxygen College?

I first decided to study at Oxygen College to improve my video and photography, realising I wanted to pursue those skills as a career as opposed to just a hobby. It just happened to be the right place for me as I figured out exactly what sort of careers I was interested in as a result.

Explain why Oxygen College was of benefit to you on your journey?

Oxygen College felt much more manageable in the way it organises tasks. Things are broken down well and are not as overwhelming as I know other ways of studying can be. Smaller class sizes than other universities also made my training feel more personal and tailored to my needs.

Did being part of the Oxygen College community have benefits?

One of the benefits I enjoyed from being part of the Oxygen College community was working with students from other departments such as the music sand sound to create projects together.
