On-Site Skills | Oxygen College with GLTS Production of Disney Classics; ‘Wish Upon a Song’.

Recently, members of our Advanced Diploma of Music Industry (Audio Professional Program – Sound Production) course were invited to Costa Hall, Geelong to assist in the setup and production of the sold out GLTS Production of Disney Classics; ‘Wish Upon a Song’.

Students worked with a 60-piece orchestra and a 40-person ensemble, for a show that was in front of a packed crowd at the 1000 seat theatre.

Learning important ‘on-the-job’ skills in real life environments is crucial to a sound engineers’ development. These skills are not only those that have been learnt in the classroom regarding patching, mic setup, sound check and live mixing, but also life skills like communicating with a team, working with actors/vocalists and helping the shows’ production team achieve their ultimate vision for the performance. Taking the skills learnt in the classroom and combining them with the autonomy and crisis management that can only be experienced in person, will allow our engineers to graduate ready for whatever the industry has to throw at them.

A huge thank you to GLTS and Ben Anderson (Head Sound Engineer) for their support and guidance throughout the lead up and production.
